Terms and conditions of sale

1. Purpose

These terms apply to trips to the Karthala volcano organised by Discovermores SARL (RC No. 8563-B-18, Moroni, Union of the Comoros) and presented on karthala360.fr.

2. Tours and prices

The tours, their content and prices are described on the Tours page. Prices are given in euros. Payment in Comorian francs is accepted at the fixed rate of €1 = 491.96775 KMF.

Zero Effort and Soft Trek are sold at a flat rate for 1 to 4 people, with a supplement per person beyond that. The Volcano Bivouac and the Full Climb are sold per person.

3. Request and confirmation

A request sent through the website or WhatsApp commits neither the customer nor Discovermores. The booking becomes firm once Discovermores has confirmed it in writing and the deposit has been received.

4. Payment

Deposit on confirmation: 30% of the total price.
Balance: no later than the day before the trip, or on the day itself before departure.
Accepted payment methods: Virement bancaire, PayPal, MVola or Wakati. PayPal also lets you pay by bank card, without a PayPal account.

A receipt is issued for every payment.

5. Environmental contribution

The contribution offered at booking is optional. It is paid into the Karthala360 action fund and used for environmental actions around Karthala. It is refunded if Discovermores cancels the trip.

6. Cancellation by the customer

More than 7 days before the trip: full refund of the sums paid.
Between 7 days and 72 hours before: the deposit is kept. You may also postpone the trip once, free of charge, within 6 months.
Less than 72 hours before, or no-show at departure: the sums paid are kept.

Any cancellation must be made in writing (WhatsApp or email).

7. Postponement or cancellation by Discovermores

Safety comes before the programme. If Discovermores decides on a No Go (weather, state of the track or trail, volcanic alert, insufficient supervision), the customer chooses between a new date, free of charge, and a full refund of the sums paid.

If the trip is adapted on site (time, route, pace, turning back before the summit) for safety reasons, no refund is due once the trip has started. If Discovermores replaces the tour before departure with a cheaper one, the difference is refunded.

8. Conditions of participation

Minimum age: 5 for Zero Effort, 8 for Soft Trek, 12 for the Bivouac and 15 for the Full Climb. Minors take part under the responsibility of an adult who is present.

Each participant fills in the registration form and reports any health problem that could affect the trip. They follow the guide’s instructions. The guide may refuse departure, or stop a participant’s climb, if their safety or that of the group requires it.

9. Liability and insurance

Discovermores professional liability insurance: Amana Assurances, Moroni, Union of the Comoros, policy no. [À COMPLÉTER : Amana Assurances policy number].

This insurance does not replace personal insurance. For visitors from abroad, travel insurance covering mountain hiking and repatriation is strongly recommended.

10. Photos

Consent to appear in published photos is requested at registration. Refusing has no consequence on the trip. Anyone may ask at any time for a photo of themselves to be removed.

12. Shop and GPS tracks

Ordering. Items from the shop and GPS tracks are ordered on WhatsApp. The order is firm once Discovermores has confirmed availability, price and delivery time in writing, and payment has been received. Prices are in euros, including taxes where applicable.

Payment. The same methods as for trips: Virement bancaire, PayPal, MVola, Wakati (see Pay for your booking).

Delivery. Collection in Moroni or hand delivery on the day of the climb. Shipping abroad is possible on quotation; shipping costs and any customs duties are paid by the customer.

Exchange and return. An item that has not been worn or washed and is in its original condition may be exchanged (another size or item) or refunded within 14 days of delivery. Any return costs are paid by the customer, except for a defective item or an error by Discovermores.

GPS tracks. The file is sent by WhatsApp or email after payment is received. As digital content supplied immediately, it is neither taken back nor refunded once sent, except for an unreadable file, which is replaced. The track is provided for guidance only: it replaces neither a guide nor the assessment of conditions on the ground, and using it for an unguided trip is entirely at the user’s own risk. It is for personal use only and may not be resold or published.

Super Hiker certificate. Prepared in the participant’s name and handed over at the end of the trip; non-refundable once printed.

13. Data Pro

Offer. Data Pro gives access to detailed, anonymised data on Karthala (visitor numbers, visitor profiles, safety, environment), as a report, an annual subscription or a custom study, described in the data space.

Order and payment. A quotation and a data use agreement are sent to the customer. Access is opened within 48 hours of receiving payment, by the same methods as for trips.

Use. The data is for the customer’s internal use. It may not be resold or passed on to third parties. Any publication cites the source “Karthala360 / Discovermores”.

Personal data. Data Pro only contains anonymous totals covering at least 5 people. No name, phone number or health information is ever passed on.

Duration. A subscription runs for one year from the opening of access. It is not refundable once access has been opened.

14. Complaints and applicable law

Any complaint should be sent to contact@discovermores.com. These terms are governed by the law of the Union of the Comoros. Failing an amicable settlement, the courts of Moroni have jurisdiction.
